I just think it odd they put it up on eBay when it is
only open to a small group of kids....

Anyways...Having auctions is a great way to raise
money for a school. The Catholic schools around here
have one every year and it is well attended. The year
I taught at the Catholic school I donated time and
materials for art lessons. I just set a minumum bid of
$20.00 (for 2- one hour lessons). I never did find out
what I went for (smile).

We had a thread before about all of the auction items
folks have come up with - some successful -- some not.
My large paper mache animals (life size deer - and a
giraffe - not quite life size - well maybe a baby
giraffe) did quite well in a raffle (sold tickets for
a dollar). My sixth graders did all of the paper mache
so they got to pick the animals that got made. They
voted on the deer and giraffe. I made the armatures.
Sixth grade painted them, too. They all had an animal
marker design they were working on when they weren't
doing the animals (just had groups doing them at a
time). Chairs make good auction items.

I hve a feeling more and more school will have to come
up with their own funding...it is going to get worse
before it gets better. Government just has its
priorities screwed up. Funny how we were just talking
about that at dinner tonight. We are going to do what
we can...
