In my district we do art/music grades 2x a year. End of Feb (grade cards go
out March 14) and in June. I we send out report cards 3x a year...so Art and
Music do not do grades the first report card. I believe this is a huge
mistake!! By the time the first grade comes out, there is only 4 months left of
school. In the past, we had report cards going out 4x a year, then the the
students got an art/music grade the 2nd and 4th times (because we see the students
1/2 as much as the PE and Media people).
It is not a great system...and we are working to change it. Although...doing
450 report cards 3x a year...yikes (I know many of you have far more students
than that and do report cards 4x a year!!!) We are switching to a
computerized system that will let us do our report cards from home...if we have a cable
or DSL connection (which I do not..but might consider when I think of getting
all those report cards done at home with a cappucino!!!) Otherwise we had to
do all our report cards at school on the computer. A real drag if you are in
more than 2 schools!!!
