Check out the Ya Ya's of New Orleans, that is the "Young Artists Young
Aspirations."

They are a group of young artists in New Orleans that started out many years
ago painting chairs as a community development project to keep inner city kids
out of trouble. They paint on all kinds of things. They were my inspriation
when I assigned my students to paint chairs. They paint very colorful patterns
and designs on discarded furniture, but mostly chairs. VERY exciting and
beautiful Designs. There's a book out about them that I've got to order now
that I've discovered it. There's also a film about them. Unfortunately I found
very few pictures of thier artwork on the Internet, and what I did find was
small. Oprah did a segment about them one time, and there is a web page about
them on her site. The book should be worth the cost tho. Hope this helps you.
