Notan for elementary - how about Valentines?
Dear Art Educators,
This lesson plan is no whre near complete...but it
sort of teaches itself:
http://www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/Files/notan.htm
There are some excellent "how tos" out there already
for teaching Notan - Positive and Negative Design - to
kids.
Joyce sent me this link:

Browse the beautiful cloth onher site too.
Happy Heart Day!
Folks are searching IAD for Valentines Day ideas...How
about the "expanded heart? Look at this design by a
third graders and see how you could just tweak that to
be hearts.

Lin had another project on her site last year that
just screamed Jim Dine. Beautiful mixed media collage.
Painted red heart cut out and glued to blue paper with
other collage elements. Many other teachers are doing
projects with Jim Dine influence to Prepare for
February 14. Some of the Christmas/Mother's day ideas
can be tweaked as well.
Calligraphy is always a winner for Valentine's Day.
Parents will frame that one.
Enjoy - and do check out this year's art on Lin's
site.

P.S. for Lin - I do not need a lesson plan from you -
I will certainly use yours if you have one on file
already. I just needed your kiddies' art.
