Linda, I like this idea of AEN. I will use it. Thank you, Judy for your
note. Mailwasher does not work for Macs. But thankfully , not many viruses
do either.
As for pencils..In my high school art classes, pencils are a requirement
as, a book for English is in another class. I don't care if it is
mechanical or wood. I do not supply lead. I also sell pencils for 10 cents
or 3 for a quarter. These are pencils I buy myself and are a service to
students. Nearly everyone has a dime. The orphans that I find around school,
I keep on my desk in a jar. They always seem to find a home. I don't say
anything about those. Sometimes, I suggest using a pen or borrowing from a
friend. My Drawing students, incidentally, have a requirement to get 2 dozen
pencils at the beginning of the year which they keep in a pencil box that
stays in the room. That is their personal supply. Pencils are of little
importance to students. You can tell by all the broken and abandoned ones.
I agree, Maggie. Let them bring their own. It is never too early to teach
responsibility. Heidi in VA>
