Do you have one or two other ideas to share?
I have art prints all around the upper walls of my room. Underneath I have
the name of the artist with the correct spelling, and underneath that the name
spelled phonetically. I told my students that at the end of the year I am
having a contest for each grade level, K-5. I will take down the prints and the
student(s) who can identify the most prints and name the artist will win a
prize. I got chidren's books about artists on sale for the prizes. In the
meantime, very often a student will ask me about a print. When that happens I stop
whatever we are doing and involve the class in a discussion about that artist
and print. I just love these teaching-for-the-moment times!
