kente cloth question

I'm trying to figure out if the strips used in making Kente cloth are woven
with alternating motifs. Or, are the strips woven with a repeating pattern of
one motif.
I understand that over all pattern comes from strips that are sewn together,
but I'm just wondering how the strips look before they are assembled.
