of these wonderful creations. There is a Kansas art teacher who goes to
Africa every year and brings back authentic artifacts to sell to us at cost
at conferences. I love going to her presentations and last year she shared
photos of a funeral procession where the coffin was in the shape of a fish.
I'm having my students do their own coffins from clay - a slab box for the
base and then transforming the top into a personal expression (well, they
can alter the base if they want). Then they will write about their
accomplishments and explain why their coffin was an appropriate symbol for
them.
