I put Melissa's "first of the year" lesson back on
IAD:
http://www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/Files/melissa.htm
(I am thinking it was Michal Austin who shared the
concept first -- but it is one that has been around
for years and years - so is hardly "original" -
Melissa's take was a different approach).
This is similar to what Colette posted. I would
recommend starting with an artist you really want your
students to know about. Is there an Australian artist
that you could use? Do turn it into a real lesson -
not just a "copy this painting". There was a LOT of
learning going on in Melissa's lesson --and WE learned
from it too (See Marvin's wonderful explanation for
"brown" -- I cherish those long posts list members
make -- Silly me -- but the main reason I wanted
Melissa's student work was so I had a place to put
"Brown" -- Marvin teaches us with every post he
makes).
Folks --this is how Files for Sharing works...You
think IAD is huge? -- you have no idea how huge my web
page folders are (smile).
Anytime you need something -- just ask the list -- If
I have it - I'll let you know...If not? I'll at least
tell you how to find it (Getty Archives).
Nicole - I have Melissa's Pin Wheel that was a huge
success, too (great way to introduce the modern art
"isms"/styles in a non-threatening way)-- let me know
if that one interests you and I'll put that one back
on.
Great day!
Judith
P.S. I just can't wait for my puppet lesson! Yippy! --
you just might have inspired me to reassemble my own
witch marionette! I'll have to see where I stashed
her....I just know I never threw her away.
