Re: new tables for the art room

My tables are 4' x 6' rectangles (maybe a little smaller). They
comfortably seat four students, but could accomodate six if students sat on
the ends. They lend themselves to many arrangements. We have brown
lamenate on top which does not show dirt. The legs are sturdy, wooden, and
on the corners. They've held up well for over twelve years, and counting.
The chairs are another story. We used to have swiveling, adjustable chairs
with wooden backs and seats. Don't get them! The squeaking was unbearable.
Luckily, I found a stash of regular classroom chairs made of metal and, I
think, resin out in the garage. These work well. The size fits fifth grade
and the smaller kinders have to kneel on the chairs or stand sometimes to
reach. The high school uses the black topped tables, similar to science
tables, but lower. They have also held up well. I don't recommend anything
tall like drawing tables because it is harder to see what is going on around
the room.
