Dear Art Educators,

Someone out there is searching the site for
Renaissance lesson ideas....How about planning a
street chalk painting festival for the spring?
Patty Knott sent me 5 amazing images - that I am
ceratin are indeed chalk paintings on the street.

I didn't find those exact images online - but did find
some that equal them in quality.

Street painting has been recorded throughout Europe
since the 16th century and is considered an important
expression of popular art. In Italy, street painters
are called "madonnari" after their historical practice
of creating chalk paintings of the Madonna.

Here is more:

Maybe have your own Festival?

If anyone wants to see the images Patty sent to me -
email me privately today or tomorrow (January 17, 18
2004)
