What do you exhibit? Just something to think about

From Marvin's web page:

"What to exhibit?
When selecting work to include, it is important to
treat all children equally.
We should either display all the work or have a fair
system of rotation that gives every child's work the
same exposure."

I know we have many new teachers on this
list....PLEASE do not send your elementary students on
to middle school never having a work of art displayed
in school. That is what enforces their
"I hate art attitudes" I taught elementary art for
only one year in my district. With only two assigned
bulletin boards I had to get pretty creative on how I
would display art - To make it easier for me - I would
use just a touch of rubber cement on the back and
attach the work to bulletin board paper. I had some
very strong packaging tape (a little darker than
masking tape) that I would attach the roll paper to
the wall. I ever had any fall down. I also went to the
classroom teachers. They would let me use their
assigned bulletins boards as well. It is ver easy to
keep track of who you put up on display for what
project. I would just highlight the grade in my grade
book. Then if I saved that work for the art show - I
wold just draw a circle around it. That system took
very little time.

When students came to middle school - I actualy had in
the course description that displaying art was a class
REQUIREMENT - All students had to have work on
display. I was fortunate to have 6 nice size bulletin
boards in the middle school - but even then I had
some over flow onto the wall from time to time.

I am not looking for answers to my question - I just
want you to answer it in your own mind. If you want to
know Getty answers to the question - there are many
threads in the archives. Try artsednet display - or
artsednet exhibit - or artsednet art show.....or any
other combinations.

Thanks Marvin - if you see this...

Cheers,

Judith
