THat's great, Susan. It sounds wonderful. What kind of drying rack do
you use? Thank goodness you graduated from three floors with a cart and
your "sick room." I also have a large and adequate room with windows
along one wall and great storage. My tables are basically in a U shape
too, but I have no carpet for magic. Have to make magic happen at my
long demo table. Actually, my demo table is two large tables for kids
with another long skinny table of equal height between. The extra table
makes it possible for everyone to fit around the table to see. I do
have a large open area at the front of my room where we freqently sit in
a circle, but no magic carpet. I do have a really great sink....it's
round and it sprays water out from the center so many can work in the
sink at the same time. It's about 5' in diameter. The only problem
with that sink is that there are no faucets for a regular stream of
faster water. I have a faucet on the wall to put buckets under if I
need to do that. Kids step on the foot pedal that goes around the whole
base of the sink to start the water in the round sink. This sink is in
a large alcove with trash cans at each end, cabinets, countertops,
shelves on the back wall. I have my torch for my older kids right there
by the sink, and all my jewelry set up at one end of the alcove in a
corner with two countertops. The jeweler's bench is right next to the
alcove, and the rest of my jewelry stuff (a tool bucket for each table,
and the forging tools, go on a cart nearby that I can lock up at night.
I do lock up my tools. Someone actually stole my first bracelet mandrel
and a vice out of my room about 3:45 one day. Long story, but I
actually tracked it down to a klepto mom of a student in my
class!!!!!!!!! Now I lock everything up at night on the cart with the
tools. My kiln room is right behind the alcove. I have cabinets on all
walls except the window wall. I also lock up my LCD projector in the
room with the tools at night. I have 3 closets, but none as large as
your 15x15 foot closets!! wow.
My kiln room has lots of shelving in it. We store paper at one end of
it, about 6' away from the kiln. There is a vent hood in there. It
might be nice to start posting
pics of our rooms in yahoo photos.
