I've stopped buying good brushes for my high school students to use. (I do keep
a stash for those who truely need them, but they are kept in my desk and they
have to hand them to me to turn them in to check) If it isn't theirs, they
treat it like it's disposable. Nope, at the beginning of the semester I tell
them straight up that if they want good brushes to use in their artwork (and
good brushes make better art), they must bring/buy their own. They are allowed
to keep them in their own locking box, and they take them home at the end of
the year if they last that long. This saves me a lot of money.....to buy more
acrylic paint for them to ruin thier own brushes in!!! I believe I've got that
posted in the IAD Pet Peeves!
