teachers to meet with Robert Rauschenberg
and Sally Smith at The Lab School in Washington, DC.

Program Description:
The Power of Art: Teaching Students with Learning
Disabilities is a one-day workshop for art teachers
who work with students with learning disabilities.
Sponsored by the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation at The
Lab School of Washington, the program will present
ways art can be used to teach academic skills to
students with learning disabilities.

Participants will receive:
A one day workshop on A Friday in 2004, at The Lab
School of Washington in Washington, DC with artist
Robert Rauschenberg and Lab School of Washington
Founder/Director Sally L. Smith. Enrollment is
limited. Breakfast, lunch and a special evening
reception. Free art supplies from leading
manufacturers for use in the participant's classroom.
Limited funds are available for travel. Details
provided upon acceptance.

The work of internationally acclaimed artist Robert
Rauschenberg is found in every important private and
museum collection of contemporary art worldwide. His
dyslexia was not diagnosed until he was an adult. The
Robert Rauschenberg Foundation is a nonprofit
organization devoted to projects which will increase
public awareness of subjects of vital interest to the
artist: education, medical research, the environment,
the homeless, world hunger and global enhancement of
the arts. The Lab School of Washington, founded in
1967, is recognized worldwide for its innovative
programs for children and adults with learning

in arts classes carefully planned to enhance academic
