Scholastics Judging & the Chiefs

---------

We began turning in slides for our regional Scholastic Art Awards
judging today. Teachers can turn in slides again tomorrow. Projectors
are set up in various rooms to accommodate judging in the different
categories. With the help of lots of volunteers the process will go
smoothly. The judging itself takes place on Sunday, poor planning on
our part because the Kansas City Chiefs are at home in an NFL playoff
game that day.

Does any one else out there judge from slides. I prefer doing it from
the original art but this is a good process where the teachers don't
have to drag in all the work to have only a few selected. It will be
quite a affair on Sunday. I helped set up the projectors for portfolio
judging. We judge 2-D, 3-D and photo portfolio separately with eight
projectors for each division. That way the judges can view all eight
entries by a student at the same time. I believe the portfolio is better
if judged as a whole rather than strong individual pieces.

I wish the Chiefs well, but some of Kansas City will be too busy to
watch you win on Sunday.
