oooooooooooh....Haystack Mountain in Deer Island, Maine is u n b e l i e
v a b l y beautiful. It's one of those kinds of places where the
architecture is married to the landscape. Picture weathered gray cedar
buildings with windows all across the front, terraced down the hillside
over the ocean in a forest that smells like heaven. In between each
building (2 on each level) is a WIDE staircase made of cedar that leads
to a landing at the water's edge. . Artists studying metals, painting,
drawing, clay, etc. sit in the cool Maine air on the steps painting,
drawing, filing metal, etc., or they stay in their respective studios
with their glass fronts facing the ocean.
Deer Island is a peaceful fishing village. Great lobster when you have
the urge. Chefs cook three healthy meals a day for you. Oh man, do I
ever want to go.
