animals on parade

Our town, St. Joseph, Michigan is going to have a display of carousel
horses this summer. Our middle school kids are going to decorate
one. The folks in charge will have a workshop on how to decorate
them. I was very happy to hear that as I am not too sure what types
of media will be most permanent.
Any tips from anyone who has been involved with these projects????

I was in Casper, Wyoming last summer and they did buffalo. I have a
few photographs.
