first day

this is the first day of my new semester, 66 new kids, (2 of my classes I
have for a few more weeks) including one who threatened me last year and one
who keyed another teacher's car, and one who "taggs" everything in my room
he can. Oh joy. I'm trying to focus my mind on the interested ones, but if I
don't get an aide for the severely physically challenged kids (I'm often
used as a 'break' for the aides) those other ones are going to eat my lunch.

Any advice welcome. Do many of youall really individually check out tools
like X-actos? does that take a huge amount of time? who's watching the class
while you're doing checkin-checkout?
