Pysanky is a Ukrainian art. It's a dye resist process much like batik, but
the designs are created on eggs.

http://www.johnstons.org/roy/pysanky/ This site shows some examples.

And believe me, pysanky becomes an addiction. People have brought all sorts
of eggs to me for my pysanky habit. Brown eggs are my favorite because they
make the dyes appear muted.

The biggest problem I've had with pysanky is that my cats find great
pleasure in using my decorated eggs as toys.
