Actually, I like the sugar water for cost effectiveness and availability. Just leave some sugar at school in an airtight container and it lasts forever. I haven't noticed any difference between the starch and sugar water for cleanliness - it's all messy! *L* If you do go with the buttermilk please share your findings - especially if you compare methods while playing. I'm always interested in making things easier and cleaner (I don't have a sink at the elementary building, just primary building and MS/HS room - oh, I do have one in my library - go figure!)

  From what I could find on the internet apparently it is supposed to do the same thing as the liquid starch. Maybe it's less messy?
