I know most of you will not have time to look up Haori
or Shibori.

Here is one link I found quickly for Haori(just so you
can see what it is):
http://www.kimonosource.com/japanese_kimono_information/about_haori.htm
 (this is a commercial site)

for Shibori - this book might be interesting - it does
include history (which is what interests me):
Shibori: The Inventive Art of Japanese Shaped Resist
Dyeing Tradition Techniques Innovation
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/4770023995/103-3833059-1809469?v=glance

For an image of Shibori - here is one that is very
traditional (as Pam's is):
http://www.idiom.com/~anneli/butterfly-shibori.JPG

Here is a source that is also on my site - doesn't
tell you much:
http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/FAQ/history_tiedye.shtml
But I followed their link to World Shibori Network:
http://www.shibori.org/

Sharon Block has a really COOL site! I'll be adding
her to my Textile Artists' page (soon -- grin):
http://www.iwearart.com/
Her work is not nearly as intricate as Pam's Haori.
Pam =- if you see this - Could I share you photo of
your Haori with the list? only for a day or two.
Just (reply to Jdecker@woh.rr.com) If I DO NOT hear
from you I will assume you prefer I not share it.

Pam - Amazon has some more books that may have more of
a contemporary flair:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/477002777X/103-3833059-1809469?v=glance

Your Haori falls more into the traditional/historical
techniques.

Well - that is about all I intend to do for Shirbori
-there is a LOT out there. Happy surfing. I will
probably add the Shibori Network site to my textiles
page, too (soon).
