I watched the video Mondrian: From Naturalism to Abstraction today (52
minutes - from Kulture). The video follows the development from his early
naturalistic work to his famous abstractions. Some of the most important
works are discussed - including his cubist period, De Stijl, and his Paris
and New York periods. This video as is would be suitable for high school and
beyond. For younger students show short segments --fast forward to other
works --and maybe even turn the sound off and just talk about the works. It
does get boring.....

Excellent site - uses Shockwave. The term "transatlantic paintings" refers
to a group of 17 works that Mondrian started (and in some cases finished) in
Europe between 1935 and 1940, and finished (or refinished) in New York after
his arrival there in the fall of 1940.

I have done a Mondrian lesson on the computer using PC Paint. It was very
successful. It is a good lesson to teach the use of line and fill....plus
design principles.
