I was pretty disappointed in the Masters of Illusion video. The blurb in the
catalog where I found it made it sound as if it looked more at how perspective
is used to create the illusion of space in film. Gee, opening with a movie set
then never referring to it again was really not what I was looking for.

And the art images were terribly discolored, like bright red, regardless of what
VCR or TV combo we have used. I like it, but the kids are bored out of their
minds with this one.

My students this year have enjoyed drawing canyons to practice their size,
overlapping, vertical placement, etc. We try a little atmospheric perspective
when we color them. Then we do little castles at the end of a precarious road.
Those little skills really help when we draw later on. We also try drawing a
curving road going over hills. They do not have art in elementary school, so I'm
a few years behind what some of you can teach middle schoolers. I can try
scanning some examples if you like.
