Doing sand painting can be easy if you use sticky paper instead of glue. My daughter taught her sixth grade class how to do this (when she herself was in sixth grade), each one had a disc of sticky paper with the sticky side up...

We were able to see this in Louisville last year - mesmerizing - absolutely
unbelievable to see the design come to life. Glad my family could see it -
too crowded at the ending ceremony to get a bag of sand -
