I never ceace to be amazed.
I introduced the mandala, using information from the mandala project site
and mandala lesson site. I suggested they use the four quadrants as shown on
the Lesson site. Guiding principles, goals for the future, compassion, and
heroes, with a symbol of self in the middle. These can be abstract or
realistic, and they can choose to do something in radial symmetry as long as
they can explain the connection between their design and the topics. All
have to write an exlanation and present to the class. Two girls came and
told me they couldn't do this assignment because it is against their
religion. when I looked puzzled, they said, We are Christian, (me too) and
we can't look at this stuff"--they specifically npoted an illustration of the
yin yang.
I said, fine, bring me a note from home. They did.
Has anyone had this happen? This seems to me to be the most all
encompassing
lesson I could present. Go figure.
