I have used drafting tape for years, as I do alot of masking work with my
own watercolor painting. It works very well, but it can still sometimes
damage paper, if you're not careful when you remove it--especially if you
press/crease it firmly into the paper, which may be necessary to prevent
bleeding. Also, it does depend on the type of watercolor paper you use.
It works well on Arches, especially 140 lb. cold press--but with softer
papers, such as Waterford, I've had some problems. I've never seen it
come in dots or squares--where did you find that? sounds neat!
