We lost a tree on campus and one of our art teachers had students write a
prayer for the tree (or simply what the tree meant to them) on a fabric
strip and tied them around the trunk of the tree. I believe the school
something similar in which students wrote why the tree was important to them
on a strip of paper and then paper chains were made out of these and hung on
the branches.

Subject: Our school tree
Hi All, Our 150 year old ash tree is going to be cut down on the school
playground. ( It is the only tree out there) I would like a ceremony or
something- of course it is winter but This tree has had kids playing
around, under and in it for a long time. I am looking for ideas for
what should take it's place, or suggestions for a school wide
activity that could go with this event. Thanks for any ideas, my brain
is on overload and I can't think of a thing!! ( more commonly known as
mush mind)
Betsy
