In our area, we ahd a very wealthy school district whcih had dropped
elementary art 25 years ago, more like 30 now. A parent strated a group of
other parents into being a advocacy group for getting art back into the
elementary schools. First they started the "Picture Lady" program. It is
called somethng else now. They found funding etc and brought it in. Then
thye kept hounding and hounding until a middleschool art program was added
with teacher and finally an elementary program. They still only have
elementary art every other week, but the program is started, due to an
active group of pushy parents. So sometimes we just need to have those
squeeky wheels. Just have to find the right balance.
