I have been ordering an using AMACO clay and glaze since I lived/taught in
Indianapolis and could get their zebra clay (end of one clay type run mixed
with beginning of another) for next to nothing if I'd drive to their Indy
plant and pick it up. At the time I lived a mile away from it. I usually
order white art clay since I do quite a bit of underglazing with several
classes. I also order 1 gallon of clear transparent glaze per class of 25
kids. With my HS intro class I do an 8-inch tall Greek style coil pot. This
past semester, I went through jusy over 200 lbs. of clay. But I also save
EVERY piece and re-cycle it in a big plastic paint bucket. Good luck.
