DBAE is widely used in art in the elementary school in my county in
Florida. Thats because many art teachers have been teaching for 10 years and
over. I mainly introduce my lessons using slides or overhead transparencies.
Lights off and giving them a masterpiece to critique, tends to quiet them and
overtakes any trouble with transition. If you taught third grade, you would
know what I mean. We review the artist, his style, the history and do a
project pertaining to the art work viewed. I am strict with demonstrations:
they have to watch while I do it on drawing paper on the chart tablet. We
also look over their work the following day, since I see them two consecutive
days in two weeks. I also try to review concepts and history before we
leave the art room each day.
