Hi every one. I am really excited to be a part of this group. I have heard
a lot about everyone and it seems to be a great wupport group to all of us
out there...being "special" is sometimes very lonley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just thougth I'd share a lesson that started as a "off the cuff....i'm too
tired to do what I planned" lesson on January 3.
I cut some patterns of 2 and 0 for 2002. I got a yearly calender off the
computer and ran it off. I began by just introducting the year......and asked
Y I as an art teacher might like this year more that other years......finally
someone said the numbers BALANCED. We then looked at vangogh's stary nite
and discussed balance..not necessarily same on both sides...but balanced.
I then talked about color choice....warm, cool, complimentary, tints,
shades....etc.
The kids were so excited to be the designers of a calendar top picture. They
traced the 2's and 0's creating a design with balance. then they colored
with crayons using their choice of color theory ideas. We will paint behind
next week to do crayon resist...then of course add a little glitter to one
2002......and mount the calender below.......
An easy start......developed into a lesson with a lot of concepts!!!!!
Have a good 2002.....peace.
