Hi,
First of all, are you the 'new person' in the art department? Or is
this an old situation?

Try humor and neutral statements. When unsolicited advice is offered,
counter with "Now there's an idea!" (say this with enthusiasm!)

When asked what you are up to; try saying silly things (again with a
smile) "Defying gravity," "Overthrowing world governments," "perfecting
my secret formulas," "Inventing invisible paint"

If the person persists with curriculum advice, ask for a complete lesson
plan and samples! Smile and say that you want to tap into her vast
experience and wisdom! Then mention that you will probably put your own
spin on her assignment.

Good luck and maintain your sense of humor. This person can be a
valuable source of information and an ally, but it takes patience and
humor to cultivate that!

Anybody out there have ideas for dealing with a 'trigger' that is
another art teacher? This teacher is a busybody and is always in the
middle of the school action/attention. She does know the ins and outs
of the school, and for that, I am thankful. She is constantly wanting
to know what I'm doing, and unhesitatingly gives me her two-cents worth.
Since we have to get along, - well, any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

Jan

I have been miserable the last couple of years. My blood
pressure is up etc
So it's smart to check your "triggers".
