It IS hard for schools to compete with business. I live in FL where teacher
salaries are in the bottom 5 of the 50 states. My son-in-law was happily studying
music ed, and was about halfway through. His part-time job, a grocery chain,
offered him a position as an assistant manager for 35K, which is what I make after
18+ years in education. He caved! He would have been a great teacher, too.
