But... I am concerned about what low salaries are doing to our profession's
future. When ED students go to school for 5 years so that they can start
at 22,00 / yr., it's not hard to see why so many go into fields which pay
more for 4-year degrees. In my state (WY), we are currently 41st in avg
teacher salaries, and we now get 1 or 2 apps for each opening, whereas we
used to get 20 (back when we were 7th). Hard to roll 7's when you only get
2 throws!
If we wanted money, we would have gotten in to another profession.
