    Dear Jill,
            The list members have been sending in excellent suggestions. I
    wanted to add that a border of fabric at the top and bottom of the vertical
    scroll format
    projects will give them a distinctive Asian style effect. Swatches of
    satin drapery/upholstery samples make good borders.
            Another technique I use prior to pen and ink and watercolor is a
    rubbed chalk background, using a cotton ball. Creates a lovely atmospheric
    effect.
