We began this discussion about two months ago when I was beginning it with
my middle school students. We used (make shift) bases from window shade
rods, rebar, and chicken wire. Then we wrapped them with plaster and also
dressed them in real clothes dipped in plaster. One is free standing,
another is in a chair, and 4 more never made it out of the second week of
making them. (You know- there's a point when the kids just give up and it's
a waste of supplies to push it much further. Gee, that sounds bad). Very
time consuming and tiring project but the kids loved it and the school staff
won't stop talking about them.
I'm posting photos of our work at my site-
