Art teacher vs. other teachers

    With all of this talk about art teacher salaries I have a quick
    question.

    Do all the art teachers out there make the same salaries as the other
    "core teachers" ?
    ( ***cringe***) I mean, are the salaries identical for all teachers
    based on experience and course credit? I have had people (who are not
    teachers) ask me if I make the same as the other teachers, like math,
    science, etc... And they are surpised that I do, saying things like
    "Wow! That's great." Meanwhile, I am there until 4:30 pm on an early
    night, and they think i have it so much easier. ha! ;)
