I don't remember who all was asking questions about printers. I
get the digest and just kind of scroll on past a lot of the posts.
I really like my HP DeskJet 1120C (I have the earlier model at
home-- the HP 1000C). I highly recommend it. It will take paper up
to 13x19" and will print almost to the edges of that size. I have
printed on tag board, cotton rag etching paper, 140 lb. watercolor
paper and hand-made paper. It has a thick paper feed in the back.
I have the HP because no one locally sold the Epson larger format.
I would have needed to order it. I do agree---try before you buy.
I was curious if HP made a larger format in the new style with
separate ink cartridges for the different colors. I think the regular
paper size model is the HP 2000. They still do not have an
affordable model (in my price range) with the different cartridges,
but the 1120C has come down in price (I suspect that something
must be in the works). I have seen the HP 1120 as low as $349.
The ink cartridges are from $29 (black) to $34 (color)....so I am
open to any suggestions for cheaper resources for ink.
I know some may not like my suggestion.....but if you want a color
printer in your classroom, sometimes it helps to buy your own. I
also have my old HP 820 Cse in my classroom because I wanted a
color printer. When the administration saw what all I was doing
with my own printer and the printer I had at home, I got the order
approved for the HP 1120C. We have really used the printers, even
though the ink is expensive.
