We use Plexiglas cleaner on all our plastic and plexi. It gets most
materials up. Do not use it if your are going to tape the plexi to another
surface the tape will not stick for days. We use a damp mop with neutral
cleaner and mop the tops of the paint table. If those do not work we first
try baby oil on oil pastels etc., then we have a citrus cleaner like goo
gone. If you use a citrus based cleaner be aware they are toxic and small
children smelling the orange smell might put their mouths on the surface or
the object in their mouths. In addition, no one who is allergic to citrus
should handle citrus cleaner unless he/she is wearing gloves. It can make
your hands blow up like balloons and ITCH like crazy. We only use it at the
end of the day, so it will evaporate over night and kids will not have a
reaction to touching the surface. Find a cleaning supply warehouse in the
phone book call and ask questions. Ours is great, and lets us know anytime
that they get a new cleaner they think might help us in the store.

    Subject: monoprints - simple green

    Hi -

I working on getting my first high school printmaking class set up and have
a few questions for the pros. I plan on doing some monoprinting in
plexiglass with caran dache crayons. We used to use something called
"simple green" in college to clean up with, but I have no idea what that is
or where to find it. Is there any other way to clean plexiglass without
using a solvent that will destroy the surface?

What do you use to clean oil based inks off of soft brayers?

Also, when doing monoprints on zinc sheets by rolling on oil based ink and
working a solvent into it with brushes, brayers, etc. what is the solvent?
    Is it just paint thinner?

    Thanks!!
    Deb
