Sister Wendy's Story of Painting mesmerized my 11th and 12th graders. The
nudity and Sr. Wendy's frank discussion of it helped hold their interest
("Art is a socially acceptable way of being bad" said Sandy Skoglund). It
surprised them that a nun could speak so frankly, and it gave them
permission to as well. If you point out her oddness and enjoy it, it gives
her a certain cachet. I'd give the series an "A" but it is for serious
students of art.
