In both our elementary and middle schools, we have students write artist's
statements which are routinely displayed with the artwork. They are included
in the final evaluation and we apply our district writing rubric to them. I
do agree with whoever commented that writing can't be a two week
activity...it has to be ongoing throughout the curriculum (all curriculums,
really) to have any impact.
