#80 sulphite paper?

Will this weight of paper accept tempera or water color without curling or
buckling too badly? I'm trying to find an inexpensive way to do an intro to
painting which will include simple color wheels and tint/shade strips.

I know the #60 paper I use for drawing wouldn't work well, and I just
learned that I'm only going to have about 1/2 of the $ I thought I'd have
for supplies for the rest of the year--yikes!

I'm open to other suggestions for types/weights of paper (as long as they're
    economical).

    Thanks!
