When I was talking with my principal about how I adjust to student
abilities, I mentioned the student with the burns. (His scarring is at least
five years old and severe. He has a lot of issues, partly because the
scarring is on his hands and his face.) I told the principal that I would
hold the ruler while the student drew a straight line. To me it seemed like
nothing. He can't physically hold a ruler straight and draw at the same
time. I watched him. And watched him get upset and frustrated. And then give
    up.
The response was that I was basically baby-ing the student. The student
was lying to me and I was being taken for a fool, according to the
principal. This angered me for many reasons. I felt it was a little action
on my part to make his project go a little easier. At least he was trying
    then.
This is why I ask. I don't want to get a bad review because I help
students a little more than is expected, due to circumstances. Most of the
time I follow the "close the door and do what it is necessary" policy, but I
am concerned because I may not be able to do that.
