Thank you, Dennis, for getting another good idea started. Here's mine for
weaving.
At Kindergarten level I start the children on basic yarn weaving on
a cardboard loom. They stretch and tie their warp threads, then use
individual strands of Maysville Rug Filler for the weft. As I demonstrate I
chant...
Over, Under, Over, Under...
then slyly I change to
Overwhere, Underwhere, Overwhere, Underwhere...
then I break into song (on key, of course)...
Oh where, oh where is my underwear,
Oh where, oh where can it be?
With its polka dots and its fancy stripes
Oh where, oh where can it be?
The children giggle and never forget the rhythmic process of weaving!
|I'm searching for songs ( for elementary students )
|that would help reinforce art vocabulary. Any ideas?
