    |I have a student who is Learning Disabled, but that isn't the problem for
    |me. It's is defiant attitude and disruptive behavior.

     Melissa Enderle

    Dear Melissa,

I'd let the student know I am audio or video taping his/her
behavior in art class and then do it. Try to get support from your
principal or school counselors to make additional observations. Get the
parents in there to watch their kids in action, live or on tape. You
should not have to tolerate this extreme negative attitude. Taping may not
hold up in a legal case, but it will give you some documentation options. A
private conference with the child and parents can often open windows to the
true source of the child's problems.
Hope this helps. I have been on this path, also, and it is a rough
    one.
