Pin up the art on the wall/bulletin board...whatever you use for display and
have the kids critique according to some rules.
Cant pick your own
Hide the names, and no picking artwork just to please a friend and, etc.,
Critics have NO friends they don't know anyone, they just know good art!
Give 4 or 5 children a small piece of colored tape. They must look at the
art from a distance and then go and place the tape 'ribbon' next to the
chosen piece. Then sit down...sometimes you need a time limit
Then repeat for as much time as you have...not all get a turn every time.
No one is allowed to talk to the 'critic,' or they get disqualified.
It takes a few practice times, but they like this...peers choose and not
teacher.
The art work with most ribbons wins the contest.
Teacher gets a turn too, and explains her/his choice.
Older kids can explain too, but must use good art vocabulary.
' I like it because of the shape, color, line, and use the elements.
It usually is the ones I would choose anyway.
