Okay, this is a mini plea for help. I have some sixth graders dying to do
paper mache. I'd like to focus on pop art.
I have searched the Getty mail and site for a lesson to make large
commonplace objects out of paper mache. I thought I had seen one a few
months ago, but haven't been able to find it. Does anyone have suggestions?
I'd like to have students make large 3D paper mache sculptures, but I want
to find a way to simplify the supplies needed. For example, if in one class
we want to make an extra large strawberry, a CD case, a baseball hat, a
sneaker . . . how do I make sure I have on hand enough materials to
construct all these things?? I imagine that each object is going to be
constructed in a different way depending on its form.
Maybe this is too much to take on? My back-up plan is to use thick paper
and cut a front and a back for everything and stuff them with newspaper like
pillows. Then paint and maybe suspend.
If anyone has any suggestions or encouragement I'd LOVE to hear it!
Thanks,
Eliza in Boston
