    hi, welcome!

I have a guess as to what it might be, though I dont know the specific name
of it. Do you have a photography lab? I remember a program I worked at
once had these, slightly textured, white plastic sheets. The program was
using them to ducttape to gether and cover tables with (they were donated),
and I used them for monoprinting. I did not try engraving into them, but I
would assume it would have been great (i had to give them back in a
condition to tape to the tables again!). Unfortunately, all I know is that
they came from a photography place. Maybe its acid resistant plastic or
????? im not sure what they use it for, but i dont think exorbitantly
expensive. I hope this little clue helps. Sorry i dont know the
    brand/name. Good luck!
    Anna
