Janice,
My student teaching experience was wonderful. I made up my mind
beforehand that it would be. I had heard so many horror stories about
terrible cooperating teachers. I said to myself "I am going to keep an open
mind and be totally teachable, I will take what works for me and leave the
rest. I will not take things personally.I will be early everyday and stay
late." I was also scared to death, but I acted as if I had confidence and
eventually it came. I did have two great co-ops. I did not agree with all
their methods but I learned so much. I did not make our disagreements a
sticking point. I tried to communicate with them constantly so we had no
misunderstandings. I asked them often for feedback and I did not get
defensive when criticized.
It was exausting and exhilarating all at once and before I knew it it
was over.Save absolutely everything. Take tons of pictures. The kids will be
your joy!
Good Luck-and feel free to ask questions along the way. I did not have
access to this list at the time, but it would have been a wonderful help.
